We have now been introduced to all three methods of the Unifying Practice, and this week we focussed particularly on watching the breath. We listened to a teaching which deepened our understanding of this method and we learned about a subtle shift of attention by focussing slightly more on the outbreath. We also learned about resting our mind in the gap between the outbreath and the next inbreath. As always in our mindful meditation, this attention was only 25%, with the other 25% being watchful awareness and the bigger 50% remaining spaciously. We set aside a longer session to practise these in turn, as a guided practice, so that we all knew what we were doing and when. Next week will be the last week of this module and we’ll introduce the next module which starts the following week.
