Meditation with and without support

Last week in our Wednesday class (week 4 of 10) we reminded ourselves on the techniques of establishing mindfulness, awareness and spaciousness when using an external object as support for meditation.  We considered various objects, like a candle for example, and also an internal object like our breath.

This meditation with an object is the starting point, and we were able to move on, dropping the focus on the object and just leaving our mind without any focus, or just a light focus on the centre of awareness. We will be doing a lot of practice, following advice from experienced meditators, with this combination of “with” and “without” an object until we feel confident.
